Case Study

In 2001, Danielle Bolton (Association Solutions Managing Director) was contracted to manage the South East Queensland (SEQ) Division of an international organisation.  This was a brave move for the SEQ Division as in 2000, NSW had trialed a staff member and it had not been successful.  The reason for failure was due to hiring a staff member with insufficient experience in the multitude of tasks required.  With this failure, NSW decided not to re-employ but rather manage the Division for minimal growth so that staff were not needed.

5 years on, we can now evaluate which model was most successful.  See below to compare the membership  acquisition/attrition rates and income surplus for last financial year.  It should be noted that this is a net surplus after all professional services had been paid for.

It is clear from the figures below that the decision to contract professional assistance is a successful model.  It is also worth noting the SEQ Division have a small turnover of their executive as success has bred energised and enthusiastic board members who cherish being involved with the organisation.
